Ovral
Ovral or Ethinyl estradiol and norgestrel, is a combination oral contraceptive pill that prevents ovulation, changes uterine lining and cervical mucus. These two changes to the body prevents pregnancy by
1) Changing hormone levels so that an egg in not released.
2) Thinning the uterine lining make it difficult for an egg to implant
3) Changing the cervical mucus make it difficult for sperm to find the uterus.
This protection strategy is what makes hormonal contraception highly effective.
Combination birth control pills like Ovral, Mircette, Ortho Tri-Cyclen, and many others, are usually more effective than single hormone oral contraceptive pills that contain estrogen only.
